Venue

St Chad’s College, Durham University

St. Chad’s College is one of the oldest and smallest colleges at Durham University, and is the venue of this year’s Brontë Society conference. Situated within a stone’s throw from Durham Cathedral – a World Heritage Site – St. Chad’s occupies a row of Georgian town houses along the North Bailey. Being the smallest college in Durham offers the twin advantages of being part of a small supportive, historic-minded college, while being fully part of one of the larger and best universities in Britain.

The University of Durham is not a campus university. Academic departments, colleges and administration buildings are spread across and around the historic city centre. St Chad’s College is in the heart of the peninsula, a horseshoe bend in the River Wear, which encloses the Cathedral, Castle and a number of other colleges and departments.
